“Children Are Absorbing The Words That They Hear Around Them”

Certainly extreme neglect during childhood can lead to developmental problems, but I don’t know that I agree with this Economist report that argues that the number of words a child hears by age three will determine future success. There’s certainly some truth there, but I think it gives too little credit to genetics. Some people are born to learn, will do so regardless of most impediments. But perhaps I’m arguing the rule with the exception. Watch here.
