Before the Internet and social networks, people had just as great a desire to be connected, but the proper medium and infrastructure didn’t exist. For a couple of years in the 1970s, people reached out to one another via CB radio, though almost all of them hid behind a handle. They hadn’t yet perfected our brand of ego and exhibitionism.
